BCE supported RTL Nederland to launch its new news channel, RTL Z.
With the slogan “Business, not as usual”, the channel targets Dutch viewers with an entrepreneurial mindset. It offers as well programmes about business, finance, technology, lifestyle with a clear focus on live events.
On 7 September 2015, RTL Nederland launched RTL Z. Broadcast from Luxembourg, RTL Nederland’s new TV channel playout is done from a dedicated playout platform by BCE, integrated to RTL Nederland’s playout centre hub. The hub already broadcasts the free-TV channels RTL 4, RTL 5, RTL 7 and RTL 8 in dedicated control rooms as well as the thematic pay channels RTL Telekids, RTL Lounge and RTL Crime from the multi-playout platform of BCE.
Having its roots in broadcasting, BCE holds state-of-the-art playout platforms to cover all the needs of its customers both in terms of infrastructure and services. BCE operates seven dedicated control rooms for the Dutch, Belgian and the Hungarian market.
Thanks to BCE’s dedicated playout platform, RTL Z provides its viewers full HD playout with advanced graphics as well as subtitles and EPG (Electronic Program Guide). Completely connected to RTL Nederland’s production facilities located in Hilversum (Netherlands), the channel is in permanent contact with the BCE playout engineers and the channel operations are monitored through BCE’s Network Operations Centre providing 24/7 services.
According to Marco Louwerens, Program Director RTL 7 & RTL Z, “We want to establish RTL Z as a channel that perfectly combines information and entertainment. Business, politics and breaking news remain important as they are integrally part of RTL Z’s DNA. However, we intent to offer a more diverse programming which also includes subjects such as technology, innovation, lifestyle and personal finance – and this using a new approach and under a new light in alternation with, among others, documentaries.”
