For the 15th time Joey Kelly was facing an insane sporting endurance challenge as part of the RTL donation marathon. Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE) was on site together with CBC/ RTL Mediengruppe Deutschland to produce the live event.
Joey Kelly took part in the RTL donation marathon of the “24h Roller Biathlon Challenge” this year with a scooter and a laser rifle.
The 47-year-old endurance athlete set a new world record together with 20 company teams for “the longest team distance in 24 hours in the pedal scooter biathlon”.
“For me, the action was a completely new challenge. I have had few contact points with biathlon and was looking forward to helping to improve the future of children in the ’24h Roller Biathlon Challenge’,” says Joey Kelly.

BCE production team was on site with its HD Outside Broadcast Van and a 11 cameras crew. The entire “24h Roller Biathlon Challenge” was broadcast live from RTL broadcasting centre in Cologne-Deutz and available exclusively on RTL.de live stream.
“We were glad to cover the RTL donation marathon for the second year in a row. Last year was fantastic with the Kettcar challenge, but this year things were even crazier with the combination of scooter and rifle! This event attracted a large audience, and, in the end, a lot of money was collected for children in need.” Concludes Xavier Thillen, Head of Production at BCE.
